Jamshedpur, Aug 13: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) service is receiving strong demand in Jharkhand. Every month around 1 lakh new connection is being added across the country. Of the total 36925 FTTH connections in Jharkhand the majority (16367) is working in Jamshedpur and is acting as a true enabler in synergizing the Work from Home (WFH) culture along with seamlessly providing e-education or ability to connect with each other. 44 % of the total connections in Jharkhand are from Jamshedpur followed by Ranchi (8598) which accounts for 23%.
Sanjeev Verma, GMTD Jamshedpur BA (Business Area) said, “Around 45% of the total growth of FTTH Jharkhand circle is because of Jamshedpur. As a result, Jamshedpur has been designated as the largest BA (Business Area) (First) in Jharkhand Circle in FTTH.”
He informed that there has been 80 % increase in the new FTTH provisioning in the current financial year.
“From monthly average connection of 724 in financial year 2020-21, the figure has gone has gone up to 1336 in 2021-22. The monthly target for Jamshedpur BA has been revised to 2000 connections”, GM added.
The state run telcom in order to boost FTTH services across the three districts of Jamshedpur BA (East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Saraikela-Kharsawan) is providing fibre-to-the-home across all places in Jamshedpur City including Adityapur, Mango and Parsudih.
Sanjeev Verma further informed that in rural areas the services are available in Chandil, Ghatsila, Musabani, Dhalbhumgarh, Behragora, Saraikela, Chaibasa, Nuamundi, Meghatuburu and in the future new OLT has been planned at Chowka, Sini, Gua, Manoharpur and Chakradharpur.
