Record-breaking heat wave scalds Jharkhand: Jamshedpur touches 45.5°C, Baharagora hits 47°C

Jamshedpur, April 30: Jharkhand, including Kolhan, is experiencing unprecedented heat waves, with temperatures soaring to historic highs in April. Baharagora recorded the highest maximum temperature, reaching a scorching 47.1°C on Tuesday. Similarly, Jamshedpur and Seraikela registered 45.5°C, while Jamtara and Palamu saw temperatures rise to 44.1°C.

Meteorologist Dr. Abhishek Anand from the Meteorological Department in Ranchi Center warned of severe heat for the next five days, issuing heat wave alerts for Kolhan and Palamu divisions. Residents were advised to remain indoors between 12 pm to 3 pm, venturing out only when necessary to avoid heat-related illnesses.

An orange alert for heat wave has been issued for Wednesday in West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Deoghar, Dumka, Pakur, Godda, and Sahibganj districts. The forecast for the next five days included a yellow alert for heat waves on May 2 and 3, with potential relief from the scorching temperatures expected after May 5, as rain was forecasted across various regions of the state.
