Ranchi: Re-polling concluded peacefully amid tight security at booth number 100 and 101 in Shikaripara police station area of Dumka Parliamentary constituency on Monday.
Voters showed less enthusiasm during the re-polling in the Naxalite-hit area. Scorching heat was also one reason for the low turnout of voters.
Re-polling was ordered by the Election Commission at the two booths after the killing of eight people including five police personnel and three polling officers on 24th April last on the day of third phase polling.
Electronic voting machines were destroyed in the landmine explosion triggered by Naxalites in Shikaripara near a bridge which killed the eight people.
Meanwhile Bharatiya Janata party candidate from Dumka Sunil Soren today wrote a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner to demand a probe against alleged partiality shown by the district administration in favour of the candidate of a particular political party in the election.
