Jamshedpur, Oct 4: State food, civil supplies and consumer affairs minister Saryu Rai on Sunday said that distribution of rice and wheat under the National Food Security Act would be implemented from October 11.
Talking to newsmen here this evening Rai said that a decision in this regard was taken yesterday.
“We have decided October 11 for kicking off the distribution process as the day also coincides with Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan jayanti,” said Roy.
It may be noted that Chief Minister Raghubar Das launched food security Act on September 25 on the occasion of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Jayanti in Ranchi.
According to Rai, the number of beneficiaries would be around 2.33 crores against the target of 2.63 crores across the state.
“Ration cards have been made for all the beneficiaries who can collect their quota of rice and wheat from the public distribution outlets under the ambitious scheme and 30 lakh is still vacant.
We have issued directives to all the 24 districts for organising small functions in both urban and rural areas while beginning the distribution of rice and wheat on October 11,” he said. He added that loopholes are being plucked and that action would be taken against officials indulging in malpractices.
Rai said that attempts were being made for providing ration cards to all the beneficiaries by October 10.
There will be around 21,000 public distribution outlets across the state. All the ration outlets will have list of beneficiaries in order to avoid any anomalies.
The special officer rationing and district supply officers have been asked to include the names of beneficiaries who have been left out. We want that benefit should be availed by actual beneficiaries,” the minister added.
In view to a notification issued by the chief secretary’s office on May 12 regard the Food Safety Act, Roy said that the notification had asked the deputy commissioners and deputy development commissioners to inspect the public distribution outlets in their respective districts and sent compliance report to the government.
Rai further informed that the vehicles which would be used for transporting ration from godowns to ration dealers would be painted yellow and will only be dedicated to this service.
“GPS enabled vehicles will become transparency in work as officials can track the location of the vehicles while SMS will be automatically sent to the dealer regarding the quantity of ration loaded by the vehicle from godowns”.
Minister said Chief Secretary has called for a meeting of all Deputy Commissioner on October 7 at Ranchi regarding the preparations of the launch of ration distribution.
Beneficiaries can check their name at the list put up at every ration shop and those who find it missing can register their name.
Talking about the future plans, Rai said, “Dal will be added to distribution list while kerosene oil will be given through ration card by direct benefit transfer.
Grievance Cell with Toll Free No. 18003456598 has been launched to register any complaints from beneficiaries, he added.
