Jamshedpur, March 2: Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus, Tata Sons and N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons jointly inaugurated GraphITI – Graphene Initiative of Tata Steel Limited and ISWP at Ramadin Bagan, ISWP, Jamshedpur.
Setting up of the GraphITI is a testimonial of Tata Steel’s aspiration and determination to be a pioneer and a technology leader in the area of new material.
ISWP, a subsidiary of Tata Steel Limited, has deep experience and expertise in Engineering, Projects Management and Operations. Regulatory approvals for setting up the unit were obtained by ISWP in early 2020. The ground breaking was done in May 2020 and the unit was completed in a record time of nine months with zero lost mandays.
GraphITI has a production capacity of 100 TPA and is one of the world’s largest single site Graphene Production unit. At 100 TPA production, the unit can produce enough powder to cover almost 10 million football pitches. The unit will produce and supply the powder for doping in various applications. Prominently amongst these are for coatings and as additives to rubber, polymers and fabrics.
