Rankini Mandir Durga Puja pandal inaugurated

Jamshedpur: Sri Sri Rankini Mandir Durga Puja Committee puja pandal was inaugurated by chief guest Rakesh Ranjan ITS Tata Steel and KK Arora Project Chief, Tata Steel on October 2.

Durga Puja in Rankini Mandir is being celebrated since 1945. It was the perseverance of Gorakh Prasad and his team that initiated this festival which now is amongst the most popular Durga Puja in town.

Initially the Puja was held inside the temple but with passing time and growing crowds of revelers and devotees, Durga Puja is being observed outside the temple precincts in attractive pandals to accommodate all visitors through day and night of the festive days.

The Rankini Mandir Puja Committee president Dilip Das and general secretary Janardan Pandey were present during the inauguration.

SK Tent has erected the pandal using experienced craftsmen to create the majestic look that Kadma Rankini Mandir Durga Puja is known for. The cost is around Rs Eight lakh, the organisers informed.

While the Dhakis (drummers) are from Contai (Kanthi) in Midnapur, West Bengal, the image is created by well known image maker Kedar Mallik. The colourful light designing in the pandal is another point of attraction.

The Committee members said that tight security arrangements are in place for safe and hassle-free viewing by visitors. CCTV cameras are in place at all vantage points. In addition police personnel from Kadma police station have been posted along with private security men. Firefighting equipment has been kept at hand in case of eventualities.

The Durga Puja managing Committee comprises of Dilip Das, Janardan Pandey, KG Govind, Ram Kishore Singh, Premnath, S Ramesh Kumar, AR Dey (Bapida), Rajendra Jaiswal, Harbhajan Singh, Dipak Biswas, Narendra Kumar, RMP Singh, PK Singh, Subhash, Nand Kumar and Govind Prasad Singh.
