Ranchi: Ranjit Singh Kohli alias Raqibul Hasan was sent to jail on the expiration of the remand period on Thursday. Police extracted vital information from him in the Tara Shahdeo case of forced conversion bid and torture.
Police meanwhile took Kaushalya Rani, Raqibul�s mother, on a remand of two days in connection with the case. They had brought her to Jharkhand along with her son from New Delhi a few days back. She was in judicial custody at the Birsa Munda Central Jail. She had filed a bail petition yesterday.
Raqibul was produced before the court of chief judicial magistrate after which he was taken to the court of judicial magistrate.
Sources said Raqibul had spilled beans about his links with several ministers and bureaucrats during interrogation. Two ministers, Suresh Paswan and Haji Hussain Ansari have been named by him during interrogation so far.
The registrar (vigilance) of High Court Mohammad Mushtaq Ahmad was earlier suspended for having links with Raqibul.
Many DSP rank officials have also come under scanner in this case after national shooter Tara Shahdeo accused her husband Raqibul of torturing her and forcing her to convert.
