Ramnavami celebrated with fervor in city

Jamshedpur, April 8: President of Jumbo Ramnavami Akhara committee of Bhalubasa city said that Ram, Navmi procession will be taken out on Wednesday from respective temple premises where worship of Bhagwan Ram will be performed.

Thereafter Rath of Bhagwan Ram will lead procession of Ram Navami tableaus. Giving further details he said that procession will pass through prominent locations of the city. He invited people to participate in the procession in large numbers. The State Capital Ranchi witnessed a grand procession on Tuesday while the steel city will see the same on Wednesday.

On Tuesday Navami procession was taken out by different Akhara Committees of Steel city, the procession moved in the locality of the particular committee and moved back to their respective temple premises.

Floats were taken out till late on Tuesday evening. Various Akhara committees were seen competing with each other during the procession. People jostled for space at every junction of the city to catch a glimpse of the procession in their respective areas. Large welcome gates adorned the entire city right up to the river bank where the akharas immersed the idols. Over 150 akharas took out processions amid adequate security arrangements.

Thousands of people gathered at their respective areas to witness the grand procession. Jumbo Akhara Commmittee organized various events on the occasion.

Several of the akhara samities displayed martial arts skills that witnessed overwhelming response from the crowd as usual. Some of the akharas that invited outstation artists for the act enthralled people with their breathtaking stunts at the Sakchi.

The tableaus featuring different aspects of Rama, Sita and Hanuman’s life were also attractions of the procession in the town. Thousands of men, women and children from rural parts of the district decked out in colourful costumes poured onto the streets to participate in the Ram Navami procession that included attractive tableaus.

The Dashmi procession will be taken out of Wednesday where district administration has announced no entry for heavy vehicles at various places. Vehicles will not be allowed at many places during the Ramnavami procession.

Deputy commissioner-cum-district returning officer of East Singhbhum Dr Amitabh Kaushal had earlier said that the administration was going to record the Ramnavami processions across the city in view of the Lok Sabha elections.
