National Mathematics Day marked with inter-class contest at Narbheram Hansraj English School
Jamshedpur, Dec 19: The Mathematics Department of Narbheram Hansraj English School (NHES) celebrated National Mathematics Day on December 18, to commemorate the birth anniversary of legendary mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. The celebration featured an inter-class mathematics quiz for students of Classes VI, VII and VIII.
Four teams—Aryabhatta, Ramanujan, Archimedes and Pythagoras—participated in the competition. The quiz included multiple rounds such as rapid fire, quick buzzer and visual rounds, keeping students actively engaged throughout the programme. The event was conceptualised by the Chief of Mathematics, Avijeet Mukherjee, and conducted by teachers Tapas Ghosh, Ranu Mukherjee, Susmita Mukherjee, Anikesh Bakshi and Sanjeeb Kumar.
The Ramanujan team emerged as winners, comprising Srijan Kumar of Class 6-B, Ayush Agiwal of Class 7-C and Lakshya Verma of Class 8-D. The Archimedes team secured the first runner-up position with Aryan Raj (6-C), Shreyansh Dey (7-A) and Anushka Das (8-B).
Principal Paramita Roy Chaudhury said such programmes boost confidence and sharpen problem-solving skills, making mathematics enjoyable and relevant for students.
