Jamshedpur, July 23: The three day Rakhi Mela organized by Marwari Mahila Manch (MMM) concluded today but not before the huge rush of women had almost swept all the stalls� stocks while availing of discounts ranging from 10 percent to 50 percent at different counters.
One of the ladies, Bela Saraogi gushed, �As you can see, the bags that my daughter and I are carrying are packed tight with a variety of purchases ranging from designer Rakhis, sarees, women�s dress material and some marvelous hand crafted decorative items and bags. We made bargain purchases what with the discounts to go with them (purchases). In fact, the quality of the trendy wares on sale is very good.�
The designer Rakhis included some with photos of icons like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and other celebrities that sold like hot cakes. Another special attraction was the lucky draw that was held on all the three days of the fair. The women running the stall gained a handsome amount. Almost 1,000 visitors availed of free medical checkups during the three days of the Rakhi Mela. The checkups were conducted by Manoj Singh and Amit Jha.
The prize winners for the organ donation slogan competition were Urmila Mittal, Anita Jawanpuria and Dipika Sihota who bagged the first, second and third prizes respectively. Incidentally Dipika Sihota is a resident of Manchiryal in Telangana state.
The special guests during the closing ceremony were Hindi Professor of Graduate School College for Women Mukul Khandelwal, Principal Balichela High School Pratibha Sinha and senior journalist Sanjay Pandey. The slogan competition winners were given received their prizes from the guests. The guests observed that the greatest gifts were blood while alive and organs after death.
The organizing committee included Jaya Dokania, Lata Agrawal, Vibha Dudani, Vina Khirwal, Manju Khandelwal, Prabha Padia, Sushila Khirwal, Vina Agrawal, Manju Musaddi, Rani Agrawal, Sima Jawanpuria, Saraswati Agrawal, Urmila Mittal, Nirmala Naredi, Lalita Saraiwala, Sumitra Agrawal, Kusum Agrawal, Satyabhama Harnathka and Santosh Dhut.
