Rakeshwar Pandey re-elected Tinplate Workers Union president for tenth consecutive term

Jamshedpur, January 14: Rakeshwar Pandey has been re-elected as President of the Tinplate Workers Union, for the tenth consecutive term, continuing his long-standing leadership. Manoj Kumar Singh retained his position as General Secretary, while Parvinder Singh Sohal was persuaded to assume the role of Deputy President.

The election, overseen by Election Officer Vinod Kumar Rai, began on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Tata Steel Tinplate Division premises. Voting for 23 contested seats was conducted across 25 designated areas, with ten polling stations set up for the purpose. The process concluded at 3 p.m., followed by vote counting at the Motor Garage Complex within the company premises.

A total of 804 members participated in the election. Of the 30 committee members, seven were elected unopposed, leaving 48 candidates vying for the remaining 23 seats. This election marked a significant milestone as the first union election held since the merger of the Tinplate Company with Tata Steel.
