Jamshedpur, April 4: Royal Calcutta Golf Club�s Rajvir Randhawa took a three shot lead at the halfway stage of the Golmuri juniors after firing an even-par 71 at Golmuri golf course in Jamshedpur on Tuesday.
Rajiv sunk as many as five birdies in his opening round but had his card blighted with three bogeys and a double bogey, which pegged him back to a well-crafted 71.
Tollygung Club�s Ayush Jha trails the leader by three strokes in second place at three-over 74 followed by club mate Arav Sanghavi a further stroke behind. Arav leads Category B event over local lad Biren Kumar (81) who will start tomorrow in fifth place overall behind Samridh Sen (78) and ahead of Sanu Das (82) ten strokes behind.
A trio of RCGC boys lead Category C. Suveer Kapoor is atop after a round of 79 followed by Rakshik Basu in second one stroke behind and Garv Lakhmani in third a further two behind at 82.
Anshul Mishra of RCGC leads Category D Boys by massive seventeen strokes and only a major upset can halt his drive to the title as Pranav Almal of Tolly is in second followed by beldih Club�s Gokul Choudhary.
Vibha Nath began the new season with hopes of capturing the Girl�s Category A&B title and she also leads Category B. Anaahit Bindra is all set to take home the Category D title.
The sixth season of the Indian Golf Union East Zone Feeder & Sub Junior Tour began at the Par 71 Golmuri Club Golf Course on Tuesday, April 4 morning.
60 young hopefuls from major golfing centers of the region viz. Kolkata & Tatanagar along with developing centers of Patna, Siliguri, Nagaland, Digboi, Ranchi etc. are participating. They will compete in severe conditions to clock up the first points of the year.
