Rajiv Gauba asks police to submit charge sheet within a month

Ranchi, August 9: Chief Secretary Rajiv Gauba conducted a high level meeting regarding the brutal murder of five tribal women in the name of witchcraft at Mandar.

The meeting comprised DGP, Senior police officers, Principal Secretaries, Secretaries and senior officers of Welfare, Social Welfare, Health, Education, Labour, Employment and Training Departments.

Under the instruction of the Chief Secretary, the police and administration cracked down upon the culprits at lightning fast speed arresting twenty seven accused persons in connection with the brutal murder of five tribal women. In order to prevent such type of heinous act in future, the Chief Secretary discussed various dimensions of the event and took decision on many points.

It was decided to submit the charge sheet of the investigation report within a month in the court in connection with the brutal murder of five tribal women. It was also decided in the meeting that High Court will be requested to constitute a Fast Track Court to sort out such cases pending for the last three years along with nominating Special Public Prosecutor.

During the review, the Chief Secretary directed the officers to sort out the pending cases under investigation related to witchcraft within one month. Simultaneously, he directed to implement Aadiwasi Gram Vikash Yojana which was announced by the Chief Minister in mission mode.

It was decided that the SPs of all the districts will strictly deal with such issues. It was also agreed upon that the Home Department will nominate nodal officers for special monitoring of all the cases related with witchcraft & other social evils.

These nodal officers will be in contact with the Police Investigation & Prosecution Department & report to the Chief Secretary Office weekly.

Gauba directed the Health Department to assure medical camps regularly in all tribal majority areas & fill in the vacant posts of teachers in rural areas on priority basis.

At the same time, he directed the concerned to run awareness campaign against superstitions through different mass mediums suited to the targeted audience.

Mr. Gauba directed to constitute a nodal office under Social Welfare Department which will conduct awareness program through street plays & other mass media.

DGP D. K. Pandey, Secretary, HRD Mrs. Aradhana Patnayak, Secretary, Social Welfare Department Mr.Vinay kumar chaubey, Ranchi SSP Mr.Prabhat Kumar and Ranchi DC Mr. Manoj Kumar along with many officers were present in this crucial & decisive meeting.
