Jamshedpur: Steel city witnessed a grand celebration of Sri Jin Mata Ashtam Mahotsava on Saturday as the Rajasthani community joined hands with others to pay obeisance to Jin Mata, one of the most revered of deities, at Dhalbhum ground in front of Agrasen Bhavan, Sakchi.
Thousands of devotees of Jin Mata participated in the programme organized under the aegis of Sri Jin Mata Parivar, Jamshedpur, a religious and cultural organization of the city. The programme was held at Dhalbhum ground.
Visitors to the venue were enthralled by the melodious bhajans presented by a team of renowned bhajan singer Ramavatar Agrawal, Neeraj Dhandhaniya and Vikas Kapoor. The bhajans continued nightlong till the wee hours. Ganesh Chourasia and Group from Kolkata added charm to the performance through instrumental rendition.
A dance drama was enacted by Devjit Mukherjee and Group from Kolkata. The actors from the theatre group presented glimpses of the divine life of the goddess, her miracles, Hanuman Lila and Ghumar dance (fire dance) during the programme.
The programme was inaugurated by a number of distinguished guests including Anil Agrawal and his wife Shyamlata Agrawal.
Besides the main programme, other programmes were also organized. They included akhand jyot, sringar, chunri utsava, chhappan bhog and gajra utsava. The main attraction of the programme was chunri mahotsava which started at 10 pm. The bhajan evening started at 9 pm. A bhandara (feast) was organized for around 3000 devotees. Local bhajan artist Mahavir Agrawal also performed during the programme.
A Sri Jin shakti paath was also organized in the afternoon. Around 751 women participated in the recitation of shakti path. The chief guest of the event was Mohan Lal Agrawal, president of Jamshedpur Chamber of Commerce while the special guest was president of East Singhbhum District Agrawal Sammelan Deepak Bhalotia. The women participating in the programme wore traditional Rajasthani attire. They welcomed the guests by presenting them bouquet and gifts.
A shobha yatra (procession) was taken out from Shiva temple, Sakchi through Kasidih to Shiva temple, Golmuri. Around 700 women participated in the programme. It was inaugurated by Bhanvarlal Khandelwal and Natwarlal Singhania. Jharkhand Vikas Morcha leader Abhay Singh was also present on the occasion. A chariot drawn by two horses was taken out with floats. A troupe of artists from Seraikela performed Chhau dance during the procession. A band party was also there to accompany the devotees. Volunteers distributed sherbet, grams and jaggery as refreshments to devotees and commuters. The Golmuri temple committee members led by Anand Bihari Dubey welcomed the procession.
