Rain, thunderstorms forecast across Jharkhand from April 26, yellow alert issued

Jamshedpur: After days of scorching heat and relentless humidity, people across Jharkhand can finally breathe a sigh of relief. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a significant shift in weather patterns, predicting rain accompanied by strong winds, thunderstorms, and lightning across the state for the next six days, starting April 26 through May 1.

According to the IMD, a yellow alert has been issued for several districts, especially in the northeastern (Deoghar, Dhanbad, Dumka) and southern regions (East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, etc.) of Jharkhand. These areas are likely to witness moderate to heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms, providing much-needed respite from the oppressive weather.

Currently, Friday remained hot and humid, with the skies mostly clear and no significant rainfall reported. Jamshedpur recorded the highest temperature in the state at 43.1°C, while Gumla saw the lowest at 15.9°C in the past 24 hours.

The IMD has also indicated that maximum temperatures are likely to remain stable for the next two days, after which a noticeable drop of 5 to 7 degrees Celsius is expected between April 28 and April 30.

The weather department has issued special advisories for April 26 to 29, urging citizens to stay indoors during thunderstorms and lightning, and avoid sheltering under trees or near electric poles.

With this upcoming spell of rain, the discomfort due to heat is expected to reduce, and the weather is likely to remain pleasant and cool across the state for the next several days.
