Rain and thunderstorm play spoilsport on illumination work at Jubilee Park

Jamshedpur: Rain and thunderstorm played spoilsport on the illumination work at Jubilee Park for the Founders Day celebration scheduled to be inaugurated on March 2 evening.Sources in Jusco said that most of the models made of LED lights based on animals, birds, historical and cartoon characters along with citys achievement in the last 100 years have been damaged in the last night thunderstorm. Trees had also been uprooted in the storm and fell on the light models.

We inspected the park and took stock of the situation early morning today and have issued directive to all the senior officials and private contractors associated with us to provide us their trained workforce for working 24×7 to set up the illumination models which have been damaged in the gusty winds last night. We have also asked the electricians to reset up the models at the earliest. Uprooted trees were removed today afternoon. We have to make things ready by March 1 evening for the trials, ahead of the final inauguration on March 2 evening, said a senior official.

Significantly, this year two huge LED screens are being installed near the J N Tata Statue of the park which would be showing short film made on the 100 years of naming of the city.

The entire Jubilee Park, including the Jayanti Sarovar and Upvan, is being decked up for the week-long festivities. Instead, there will be a complete representation of the founder Jamshetji Nusserwanji Tatas global visions based on the theme Technovation. Its not Tata Steel alone but, Steel city at large is gearing up to celebrate the Founders Day, the birth anniversary of J N Tata on 3rd March, the founder of the steel major and the one who laid the foundation of the semi cosmopolitan city of the erstwhile Bihar. Inside works floats would demonstrate how the departments have incorporated their working based on Tata philosophy.

Tata Steels subsidiary, Jusco which looks after civic amenities in the city area, has already started giving facelift to Jubilee Park, Bhetiya Park (Kadma), Dorabji Tata Park (Northern Town), and Nildih Park (in Nildih near Telco).

Work has begun for illumination at Jubilee Park where light artistes from Chandernagore, Bengal, will start transforming the parks into fairy land. Other popular green lungs like Bhetiya Park (Kadma), Dorabji Tata Park (Northern Town) and Nildih Park (near Telco) will also be lit up for the big day. An exhibition by Tata Steel near the Childrens Corner of Jubilee Park on March 2 will have the same 100-year theme as well.
