Railways to add extra coaches and run new trains�for�festive�season


Jamshedpur:�Keeping in view the increased rush during the festive season, the South Eastern Railways ( SER) has decided to add new coaches to the�trains. Additional number of coaches will be added to the�trains�ferrying from Chakardharpur, Tatanagar, Ranchi, Kolkata, Kharagpur to places like Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and Bihar.

Officials of SER said that the decision has been taken to ensure hassle free journey to the passengers during the�festive�season. The decision would be active from October 1 to October 31.

�Durga puja is the biggest occasion not only for the eastern part of the country but for the Railways too. Large numbers of people travel to their native places. In order to accommodate the increased rush we have decided to add new coaches with the�trains. This will help to reduce the rush on the stations,� said an official of SER.

Sources informed that plans are to add additional coaches to other express�trains�too. A circular would be issued soon.

�During the pujas, people ferrying between Bihar and Kolkata increases in manifold so it is essential to ensure proper journey of the passengers. We are also planning to start new facilities for bookings and other for the passengers,� noted a senior officer of SER.

Meanwhile the decision of SER to add coaches has given people a reason to smile. � The decision is a welcome move from the Railways. This would ensure peaceful journey. One can look forward to meet relatives and friends during the�festive�season,� Vishesh Chatterjee, an employee of LIC.

The computerised reservation centre at Tatanagar has already recorded a climb in booking. Names on the waiting list have crossed the 100 mark for most long-distance mail and express trains headed towards New Delhi, Mumbai and Patna.
