Jamshedpur, April 17: The Ministry of Railways has approved the Final Location Survey (FLS) for two key infrastructure projects under the South Eastern Railway—construction of 4th and 5th railway lines between Pandrasali and Kandra, and development of a new coaching terminal near Tatanagar as a satellite station.

A total of Rs 1.812 crore has been sanctioned for preparing Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for both projects.

Of this, Rs 1.26 crore has been allocated for the survey of the 42-Km stretch between Pandrasali and Kandra under the Chakradharpur Division.

The additional railway lines, planned to by-pass Raj Kharswan and Sini, are aimed at significantly enhancing line capacity and easing congestion on this busy corridor.

The move is expected to ensure smoother and more efficient movement of both passenger and freight trains, thereby improving overall operational efficiency.

Railway officials said that once completed, the project will strengthen regional connectivity, support higher freight volumes, and contribute to economic growth in the region.

Meanwhile, the proposed coaching terminal near Tatanagar has been sanctioned at an estimated survey cost of Rs 55.20 lakh.

The facility will function as a satellite station for originating, terminating, holding, and maintaining coaching trains.

With rising rail traffic and passenger demand, the new terminal is expected to streamline operations, reduce turnaround time, and enhance punctuality of train services in and around Tatanagar.
