Railway police nab three juvenile offenders from Bengal trying to pickpocket

Jamshedpur : Railway police have nabbed three juvenile offenders while trying to pickpocket at platform No 3. The offenders were trying to steal valuables from the passengers when the Howrah-bound Janshatabdi Express arrived at Tatanagar railway station. Those nabbed were in the age group of 12-14 years and they hailed from Purulia district of neighbouring Bengal .

The trio were nabbed by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials on the basis of footage of the CCTV cameras being scanned by the RPF. On Monday morning the railway police handed them over to the Childline for counselling.

The railway police have recovered cotton bags and Rs 150 in currency notes. Revealing about the breakthrough, RPF inspector, Tatanagar, MK Singh said that the three minors were nabbed from the platform are trained on petty crimes like theft and pickpocket.

” We are questioning those arrested. They are trained and can steal valubales like purse, cellphones and wallets. They move around begging and when a long distance trains arrive, they commit the pickpocket or steal goods,” said Singh.

The railway police have become active ever since a 55-year-old woman Sita Singh who is a resident of Bhuiyandih in Sitaramderapolice station was robbed of gold ornaments worth Rs 3 lakh and Rs 50,000 cash from the woman while she was getting down New Delhi-PuriPurushotam Superfast at Tatanagar station on June 18.

Tatanagar railway station witnesses a daily traffic of over 90- mail, express and passenger trains which either originate from Tatanagar of go via that station. The daily passenger footfall is close to 50,000.
