Railway eviction notice causes panic in Kandra

Jamshedpur: A notice by the Railways to the residents of Lahakothi Kalindi Busti in Kandra to remove encroachment has caused panic in the area. A deadline of 10th November has been given in the notice, sources said.
In view of the notice, members of Garib Adhikar Manch, a local outfit, put up a demonstration on Tuesday to demand revocation of the notice.

Leading the agitation, the outfit president Bindeshwari Bharati said the Railway department was trying to render the residents homeless through its eviction notice. He said the notice had been serviced to the occupants of around 300 households in the locality. Around 1500 people will be affected by the removal of encroachment, he said.
The agitators accused politicians of neglecting their problems and demands. They said they had written to the Prime Minister, Chief Minister, land reformation minister, DC and CO, but had got no response till date.

Among those present during the agitation included Suklal Kalindi, Rubiya Khatun, Somvari Kalindi, Sukhram Kalindi and Gopal Kalindi.
