Rahul Kashyap Elected Mango Deputy Mayor

Jamshedpur: Rahul Singh Kashyap won the election for Deputy Mayor of Mango Municipal Corporation on Tuesday, ending suspense over the high-stakes contest.

Officials conducted the election at the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office, where Kashyap secured a decisive victory.

All 34 ward councillors cast their votes, and officials completed the process without recording a single invalid vote.

Kashyap secured 19 votes, comfortably crossing the majority mark. His closest rival, Ghulam Mustafa Raja, received 9 votes, while Momita Chatterjee polled 6.

Kashyap won by a margin of 10 votes, demonstrating strong support within the municipal body.

All candidates had earlier been elected as ward members. Kashyap represents Ward No. 5 and resides in Repeat Colony in Mango. Raja and Chatterjee represent Ward Nos. 26 and 4, respectively.

Political alignments played a key role in the outcome. Kashyap received backing from leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), along with support from Mayor Sudha Gupta and former minister Banna Gupta.

Although Raja was also considered close to Banna Gupta, Kashyap ultimately secured broader support across councillors.

The Returning Officer formally declared the results.

Authorities then administered the oath of office to Mayor Sudha Gupta and all 34 ward members, including Kashyap.

With a clear mandate, Kashyap is now expected to play a key role in strengthening civic governance and addressing urban challenges in Mango.
