Ranchi, June 17: Today, Raghubar Das, the former Chief Minister and National Vice President of the BJP, visited the Ranchi Cancer Hospital and Research Center. The visit was organized as part of the Vikas Teerth Abhiyan to commemorate the completion of 9 years of service, good governance, and welfare by the Modi government. Dr. (Col.) Madan Mohan Pandey, the Medical Director of the hospital, provided detailed information about its facilities. During his visit, Das interacted with the patients and their relatives.
Dr. Pandey highlighted that the hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art machines and offers medical services at affordable rates. The first phase of the hospital, built on a 7.5-acre land at a cost of Rs 200 crore, currently provides radiology, chemotherapy, and surgical facilities. Advanced treatment machines have been installed, and plans are underway for the construction of a dedicated building to treat blood cancer and pediatric cancer. Additionally, a premises called Premashray will be constructed on one acre of land, providing accommodation for the patients’ relatives. The construction will be funded through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions from Central Coalfields Limited (CCL). In critical cases, teleconferencing consultations are being conducted with doctors from the Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH) in Mumbai.
Das expressed his satisfaction with the realization of the cancer hospital, which has been his long-standing dream project. During the Momentum Jharkhand event, he had requested the support of Ratan Tata for its construction and had participated in the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony in 2019. He stated that it is a significant achievement to witness his dream come true. With the establishment of this hospital, people not only from Jharkhand but also from neighboring states will no longer have to travel outside for cancer treatment. Following the visit, Das engaged in discussions with Arun Kumar Singh, the Additional Chief Secretary of the state, and emphasized the importance of including the Ranchi Cancer Hospital in the Chief Minister’s serious illness treatment scheme at the earliest. The inclusion in this scheme would provide further assistance and benefits to patients seeking treatment at the hospital.
