Jamshedpur : Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Monday laid the foundation stone of a new power sub-station at Sidhgora with two transformers of 5 MV capacities, to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 2-crore.
He that consumers of state electricity board -Jharkhand Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (JUVNL)- would no longer have to stand in queue for payment of electricity bills. JUVNL will start online payment system from April. He also promised to make Jharkhand �Power Hub� by 2019.
�We will start the facility from the month of April. As we improve the power quality people will also have to pay their dues.� The board will no longer tolerate power theft which is continuing in several parts of the state,� said Raghubar Das who is also the local MLA.�
�We are keen to become power surplus and are working on it. This would not only make Jharkhand self reliant in power but the state would be able to give power to other parts of the country,� he said. �I expect that the villagers and businessmen of the State will make the best use of electricity.
Keeping this under consideration, the government is preparing plans for erecting infrastructure for transmission lines that will enable the state in evacuating the power produced in the state he added.
Meanwhile, at the Central Load Despatch, which supplies power to the city and its fringe areas, said TVNL was unable to generate adequate power leading to the crisis. They added while JUVNL command areas here require a minumum of 140 MW� during peak hours, but� it gets a supply of just 60-70 MW, leading to disruptions.
Production hampers at several small and medium scale units at the Adityapur industrial area due to the power crisis. Small units cannot afford production by using generator sets due to cost factor.
Power shutdown stretches beyond the schedule by at least six or eight hours during the day. On an average, the Adityapur industrial units, insures financial loss of upto Rs 4 crore daily, due to poor supply of power.
The areas under JUVNL like Jugsalai, Sundernagar, Baridih, Karandih, Baghbera and some parts of Kadma are also facing acute powercrisis.
