Raghubar Das appears before court

Jamshedpur : Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Monday appeared before a court in connection with a case involving violation of the electoral code of conduct in 2009.

Das appeared at the court of Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate GK Tiwari where his statement was recorded under section 313 CRPC (power to examine the accused), his lawyers Nand Kishore Mishra and Devendra Singh said. The court has fixed June 11 for the next hearing Singh said.

Besides Das, the then President of Jamshedpur Mahanagar committee of BJP Chandrasekhar Mishra and a party activist Amar Kumar Sharma also appeared in the court, they said.

According to information, a case related to BJP flag hoisted at a residential quarters in Sidhgora was found in 2009 which was violation of model code of conduct. A case was registered with the Sidhgora police station.

Das was the BJP candidate from the Jamshedpur East constituency and as the Sidhgora area falls under his jurisdiction, the SDO Kartik Prabhat implicated him and the then district president of the party Chandra Shekhar in the case.

After appearing at the court he said that this was an important case and their appearance was necessary. In the honour of the court I decided to appear as there are cases pending in the court against me and other party functionary,” said Das while talking to the newsmen after coming out of the courts.
