Raghubar Das acquitted in model code of conduct violation cases

Jamshedpur, April 26 : Jharkhand chief minister Raghubar Das was acquitted in separate cases related to violation of model code of conduct in 2009 Parliamentary and Assembly polls at the Jamshedpur civil court on Wednesday .

In the case of violation of model code of conduct during the 2009 General Elections for Jamshedpur parliamentary seat (Arjun Munda was the BJP candidate) lodged with the Bistupur police station on March 6, 2009 Raghubar Das (the then Jamshedpur East MLA and BJP state president) was accused along with 11 other persons for putting up banners and party flags on Bistupur Main Road for welcoming party senior national leader L. K Advani who was scheduled to address a rally on March 8 at Sakchi.

The chief judicial magistrate, Jamshedpur court, G. K Tiwary acquitted Raghubar Das along with 11 other accused for lack of evidence.

In the two cases of November 2009 lodged in the Sidhgora police station pertaining to violation of model code of conduct during the 2009 Assembly Elections, Raghubar Das (who was then state president and Jamshedpur East MLA) along with party leader Chandrasekhar Mishra ( then East Singhbhum district president) and party member Prabhakar Rao , the court of the first class judicial magistrate S. N Lameye acquitted all the three accused for lack of evidence.

�The CM has been acquitted in the cases.In one cases Raghubar Das was made accused for putting up party flags and posters at party�s Bagunhatu office while in another case Raghubar along with Chandrasekhar Mishra and Prabhakar Rao were made accused for putting up party flags and banner in the house of Prabhakar Rao near Surya Mandir,� said legal counsel in the case Devendra Singh.
