RAF officer receives Lord Baden Powell award for humanitarian services

Jamshedpur, Feb. 26: Rapid Action Force (RAF) officer Aswini Kumar Jha, the second-in-command in Rapid Action Force (RAF) 106 battalion, has been conferred with the prestigious Lord Baden Powell National Award 2016 for his service to the humanity.

Aswini Kumar Jha received the award from former Union minister C P Thakur at a function held on World Scouts’ Day in Delhi on Monday, February 22.

The RAF official posted at the Sundernagar camp office of the RAF in steel city is among the 14 recipients of this national recognition. The selection was done by the Scouts and Guides organization.

Expressing happiness after getting the award, Jha said, “The recognition will push me to work for the greater good for the society and serve humanity.”

Introduced in 2007, the objective of this award is to promote brotherhood. Ever since its introduction, Scouts and Guides have been selecting personalities whose contribution have helped uplift the common man’s condition to a higher level, thereby helping the society to grow. The awardees are selected from different fields every year.
