East Singhbhum District Paralympic Committee Formed

Jamshedpur, January 18: The East Singhbhum District Paralympic Committee was unanimously formed during a crucial meeting held at the Sabal Center in Sakchi on Saturday. The meeting was chaired by Ajit Kumar, Executive Member of the Paralympic Committee of Jharkhand.

During the meeting, it was decided that a state-level athletics and para-badminton competition would be organized in Jamshedpur either in the last week of January or the first week of February. The decision was welcomed by sports enthusiasts and disability sports advocates present at the meeting.

As per the resolutions passed, Avtar Singh and Mukhtar Alam were named Chief Patrons of the newly formed committee, while Mrs. Purvi Ghosh was elected President. P. Baburao, Dheeraj Sharma, Deepak Srivastava, and Ajay Mahanti were appointed Vice Presidents. Jagannath Behera was elected Secretary and Rajkumar Singh Treasurer. Tenik Mahto and Naresh Kumar were named Joint Secretaries, while Pushpalata Kumari, Geeta Singh, Dr. Nivedita Panigrahi, Paul Ibrahim, W. Rahman, Pranav Naha, and M. Arshad were appointed Assistant Secretaries. Several members were also inducted as Executive Members. Mukhtar Alam was named Press Advisor and Spokesperson.

The programme began with a welcome address by Ajit Kumar and was conducted by Shyam Kumar Sharma. The vote of thanks was delivered by Secretary Jagannath Behera.

Kumar Gaurav, Secretary of the Paralympic Committee of Jharkhand, served as the election observer and administered the oath of office. He also highlighted the importance of sports for persons with disabilities and briefed members about the upcoming state-level competitions. The meeting concluded in a positive and enthusiastic atmosphere, with the presence of sports lovers, social workers, and former national and international players.
