Purported extremist seeking levy arrested

Jamshedpur, Oct 9: Dhalbhumgarh police led by OC Tanzil Khan arrested Raj Kumar of Lakhipur under Chakulia PS in connection with written and telephonic threats in the name of MCC activists to Jitendra Kumar Agrawal owner of of Ms gajanand Ferro Pvt Ltd at mankabera near NH 33 under Dhalbhumgarh PS.

According to reports, on the night of Sept 12-13, four to six men with their faces covered handed a letter to the security guard manning the main gate of the plant and handed him a note demanding Rs 7.30 lakh as levy failing which the life and property of owner Jitendra Kumar Agrawal would be at stake. The note bore a mobile number 7478318195 which was to be contacted in connection with the mode of handing over the levy amount.

Incidentally, Jitendtra Kumar Agrawal is a resident of Contractors Area under Bistupur Police station.

Based on a written complaint, Dhalbhumgarh PS filed case no 35/16 dated Sept 30 Sec 386/506/120 B of the IPC against the owner of mobile number 7478318195 and others.

Following leads and tracking the mobile number, the Dhalbhumgarh police arrested Raj Kumar Mahto whose present address is village Chatro under Dhalbhumgarh PS and seized a black coloured Samsung mobile phone with SIM numbers 7478318195 and 7765048989.

The arrested criminal confessed to also having sent a note demanding levy to paper mill owner at Chakulia, Gyanchand Jaiswal.
