Jamshedpur, Feb. 16: Purnima Netralaya in Brahmananda Nagar, Tamolia near Pardih Chowk celebrated its 14th annual day on the occasion of birthday of Guru Mata Purnima Devi on Thursday, February 16.
Chief guest for the occasion Monu Bhattacharya, trustee of Brahmananda Seva Sadan announced free eye care in 100 villages of Seraikela-Kharswan and East Singhbhum district. ‘Free eye care will be provided to the villages by Purnima Netralaya with the support civil surgeon all round the year’, said Monu Bhattacharya. Earlier the annual day celebration of Purnima Netralaya was inaugurated by Monu Bhattacharya by cutting a cake and lighting a lamp.
On the occasion talking to the mediapersons, trustee of Brahmananda Seva Sadan said, on the foundation day of Purnima Netralaya free cataract operation will be done from 16 to 26 February where 87 patients will be operated through phaco method.On the first day, 21 patients were operated.
Answering a query, Monu said, Phaco (Phacoemulsification) is a modern cataract surgery in which the eye’s internal lens is emulsified with an ultrasonic handpiece and aspirated from the eye. Rs 10 thousand is a cost for each eye operation and after the operation every patient will be provided free medicine and blankets.
Monu further informed that a live surgery will be organised on Sunday, February 26 where famous doctors from Jharkhand, West Bengal and Orissa will be present.
On Thursday evening, special puja was held for Lord Brahmananda at Brahma Lok dham in Kadma which has been decorated with attractive lights and flowers. The religious programme started at 4.30 which continued till 9 pm.
Devotees in large numbers from Ranchi, Kharagpur, Cuttack attended the programme.
