PUCL seeks action on sound pollution

Jamshedpur: People�s Union for Civil Liberty (PUCL), Jamshedpur chapter, has complained to the senior superintendent of police, East Singhbhum, Amol Venukant Homkar, against people causing sound pollution and general inconvenience to the people by playing loudspeaker and DJ music.

The outfit members Professor Jagdish Mishra and Jawaharlal Sharma met the SSP and handed over a memorandum to him demanding strict action against people ignoring sound pollution norms and causing inconvenience to others by playing loud music beyond prescribed time at night and in silence zones.

PUCL members said the Information Commission had also issued directions to stop people from playing loud music and causing sound pollution. Awareness should be spread and people should be informed about sound pollution laws, they said.
