Jamshedpur : The transfer of Seraikela Kharsawan SP Inderjeet Mahate has sent resentment in the neighbouring district so much so that several political parties and social activists today blocked road at Adityapur in protest against the move.
“The State Government is responsible for the transfer. The SP was efficient to deal with the law and order and under his leadership situation got under controlled.
Between 10 am and 3 pm, numerous cars, trucks, trailers and two-wheelers lined up on either side of the road as party supporters and people alike raised slogans against governments move.
The blockade delayed the residents bound for Jamshedpur. “I am required to catch a train for Delhi. But, I think due to the jam I won’t be able to catch,” said Ravi Sharma, a local trader.
The agitators withdrew their agitation following intervention of the administration. The officials assured the agitated party workers that they would take up the issue.
The people started gathering at the streets and subsequently converged at the Sher-e-Punjab Chowk on Tata Kandra Road for registering their protest.
Advocate Om Prakash said the Hemant Soren government will clear the reason behind the sudden transfer of an able officer like Mahthe.
“He is an honest SP. Such act not only dampen the spirit of the efficient officers, but also disappoint the people who want such officer remain posted for a minimum three years,” said Om Prakash.
The 29-year-old Mahthe, who is the 2009 batch IPS, had joined as SP Seraikela-Kharsawan district on May 17, 2013.
He was transferred as commanded Indian Reserve Battalion, Gumla. Madan Mohan Lal will be joining as the new SP of Seraikela-Kharsawan shortly.
