Project School teachers gets tips to groom and guide the students


Jamshedpur, April 20: Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West, in association with Tata Steel Urban services, organised a two days workshop for teachers of Bal Vikas Kendras and project school run by Rotary West at Bhalubasa community centre on Thursday.

The initiative was taken by Rotary West keeping in mind challenges project school teachers face in creating a conducive atmosphere in the classroom, making study materials interesting and lower down the dropout rates.

Idea was to make teachers believe in themselves and encourage them to make use of items available to them in best possible way.

Ms. Lalita Sareen, eminent educationist and director of Mount Litera Zee School conducted the sessions on 19 and 20 April and gave tips to the teachers on how to groom and guide the students.

Rotary West President Alakananda Bakshi, facilitator Ms Sareen, Saroj Kumar Singh, head Tata Steel’s LD 2, Mrs Manju Kumari of Urban services and Firoz inaugurated the teachers training workshop.

Around 40 teachers attended the training session and they created educational tools using waste materials, composed songs to teach students, exhibited their acting skills while teaching alphabets and showed their drawing abilities to create interesting class rooms. They also learnt how they should believe in themselves and keep their minds active in everyday life.

Teachers shared some common problems with Lalita Sareen and sought her advice. The two days session was an interactive one and every teacher participated in it. They enjoyed it thoroughly and promised to implement the techniques in their working field.

All the attending teachers were encouraged for their participation with certificates from Rotary West and small token of gifts. Rotary President Alakananda Bakshi, Suchanda Banerjee and Nibha Mishra volunteered the camp.
