Private schools in Jamshedpur will have to waive off fees during lockdown: Education Minister

Jamshedpur, May 5: Education Minister Jagarnath Mahto on Tuesday reiterated that all private schools of Jharkhand including Jamshedpur will have to waive off fees during the lockdown period. He said that the school authorities cannot charge fees from students at a time when people are under lockdown. He said that the education department has also formed a committee that will respond to the private schools charging fees from parents. There are several parents who are not in a position to pay the fees. The move will come as reliever for them, Mahto said.

State education minister Jagarnath Mahto, who visited Jamshedpur to review the online education system being imparted through Whatsapp groups among students of government school children, said that the education department has received complaints that a large number of students are unable to access the digital content shared by the department of school education due to non availability of smartphones and thus the government is trying to spread the idea of using cable television as a medium of teaching during the lockdown.
