Ranchi: President Pranab Mukherjee will visit Jharkhand tomorrow. He will attend the annual convocation of the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, said a statement from Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday.
The Indian School of Mines was opened December 9, 1926 by Lord Irwin to address the need for trained manpower related to mining activities in India with disciplines of Mining and Applied Geology. It has 18 academic departments covering engineering, applied sciences, humanities, social sciences and management programmes with emphasis in areas of earth sciences. In 1967, it was granted the status of a deemed university under UGC Act, 1956.
Jharkhand administration has made elaborate arrangements to welcome the First Citizen of India. Chief Secretary Sajal Chakraborty held a high level meeting with the bureaucrats of the state to review security arrangements for the President�s arrival. He also held meetings with the Dhanbad administration officials and ISM authorities.
