Jamshedpur, Oct 28: Sidhgora Surya Mandir Committee has sped up preparations for the Chhath festival. With only a few days left for the festival, the committee has pressed into service several teams for completing all tasks.
In view of the large number of devotees arriving at Surya Mandir every year, arrangements are being made for clean drinking water. The pond and temple premises are being cleaned. The entire Chhath ghat is being painted, committee members said.
The temple committee has planned elaborate puja ceremony for Chhath. A group of priests would be performing puja at the temple. Lighting decoration is also underway to give a fantastic look to the venue.
On November 2, the Chhath ghat gate would be opened around 2 pm. The devotees would be allotted puja space on a first come first serve basis. Entry to the Chhath ghat will be free. The devotees will also be given coupons for purchasing fruits on 29th and 30 October from 10 am to 2 pm. All fruits and prasad items would be made available to devotees at no profit no loss rates. Fruits and prasad items would be distributed among 500 poor devotees free of cost all over the city.
On 2nd November, a grand cultural programme would be organized at Agrico Ground. Popular singers Neha Kakkad and Shraddha Das will be performing on this occasion. The temple committee would provide free parking, toilet, drinking water and tea to the visitors, said oroganizers.
