Saraikela, Aug 24: A major festival, Nuakhai, of Eastern Odisha is also celebrated in Saraikela and other districts with piety. On the occasion the presiding deity, Ma Pauri is worshipped with total devotion followed by the worship of Devi Ma Jhumkeshwari. The first paddy harvests are offered to the two deities before being taken home and cooked. Priest Pahan Suraj Deori performed the worship.
The host during Ma Pauri�s worship was the Director of the Royal Chhou Nritya Kala Kendra Guru Tapan Kumar Pattanayak who offered the first harvest to the Mother. Prayers for happiness, progress and peace were made to the deity. The Centre�s Technical Assistant Vijay Kumar Sahu along with artistes Sushant Kumar Mahapatra, Bablu Dubey, Tarun Bhol, Manoranjan Sahu and Gopal Pattanayak were present during the worships. The initial paddy crops were also offered to Ma Jhumkeshwari. Bhog was offered to the Mother and distributed among devotees. After offering the initial harvest to Ma Jhumkeshwari, the paddy crops were taken home for consumption.
