Jamshedpur, June 7: Left with no hope of justice, parents of Balika Badhu fame late TV actress Pratyusha Banerjee have decided to approach chief minister Raghubar Das and state women commission as part of their effort to seek justice for their daughter who they claimed was murdered and not committed suicide.
Father Shankar Banerjee (50) and mother Soma Banerjee (46) speaking to the media at their residence in Sonari said that they would meet Raghubar Das and also state women commission members at Ranchi on Thursday.
“ We are now pining hopes on Raghubar Das jee. We want the Jharkhand government and state women commission to intervene and put pressure on their Maharashtra counterparts for a CBI probe into the case.
We are hopeful of support from our chief minister who also hails from the city and knows Pratyusha achievement in the small screen. Moreover, someone very influential with strong political connections who is helping Rahul Raj Singh (the TV actor producer accused behind death of Pratyusha),” said Shankar Banerjee.
“We are fighting for a cause and nothing else. We want the truth to come out and nothing else so that the culprits are punished as per law,” said an uncle.
Incidentally, Supreme Court on May 30 declined to end anticipatory bail of Rahul Raj Singh, accused of abetting the suicide of 24-year-old Pratyusha Banerjee. A vacation bench of justices P. C Ghose and Amitava Roy had refused to entertain the petition of Pratyusha’s mother Soma Banerjee.
“We do not hesitate to say that the Maharashtra government has not been much helpful and did not provide much evidence before the Supreme Court for quashing anticipatory bail of Rahul Raj Singh (whose parents reside in Namkum, Ranchi). We strongly fear that out on bail Rahul might tamper evidences,” said Shankar.
Jamshedpur-born TV actress Pratyusha Banerjee, known for her role of adult Anandi in the serial ‘Balika Vadhu’, allegedly committed suicide on April 1.
Pratyusha hanged herself from a fan at her Kandivali residence but was detected and taken to the Kokilaben Ambani Hospital where she succumbed.
Her relatives however said that the actress was depressed with her personal life and her boyfriend, Rahul Raj Singh.
The two were in a serious relationship and planning to marry soon. Hailing from Jamshedpur, the 24-year-old Pratyusha catapulted to fame with her role in Balika Vadhu between 2010-2013. She was later seen in the reality dance show “Jhalak Dikhla Ja-5”, “Bigg Boss-7” and hosted some episodes of “Savdhan India”, and recently appeared in “Sasural Simar Ka”.
The parents will also start a signature campaign at Sakchi market on Wednesday evening to seek public support for seeking justice for their late daughter claimed that it was not a suicide but a ‘planned murder’ by Rahul Raj Singh who as per Mumbai police records is suspected for having drug links.
Mumbai police have during the investigation in the case has suspected Rahul role in drug peddling and during our stay in Mumbai we came to know that Rahul has already cheated more than seven girls some of whom came in contact with us and wanted him to be punished.
