Power pangs continue for second day at JUVNL areas

Jamshedpur : Several areas serviced by Jharkhand Urja Vikas Nigam Limited ( JUVNL) continued to face power pangs for the second day todayfollowing yesterday’s storm which damaged overheard electricity cables and other equipment.

The worst hit were ChhotaGovindpur and Ghorabandha( near Telco) areas which witnessed blackout ever since the storm hit the steel city. Places like Parsudih, Jugsalai and Mango too faced erratic power and load sheddings since last evening.
JUVNL authorities said that they were getting adequate power from the Central Load Despatch( CLD) in Ranchi in both the Golmuri and Gamharia power grid substations. But, because of damaged cables and other electrical equipments caused by the storm there was power disruption.

�In most part of the area electricity supply is not there and even in some of the locality where there is power supply is irregular. The years old electricity wires and poles are in abject condition with incident of power cuts being taking place frequently in summer,� informed, Mahesh Patel, resident of Mango.

With regard to the electricity the scenario is far from improving as large population is solely dependent on limited sets of JUVNL transformers in the area.
Officials admitted that several areas under the board are facing acute power crisis due to the storm �The storm has snapped the power supply in several areas.

A few days back similar situation prevailed. Our team members are at work. We hope to restore power supply by tonight,� said official of JUVNL Singhbhum supply area.
According to him , the power supply in the some of the urban areas has been restored by this evening while efforts are being made to restore normal power supply in the rural belts.

Officials, however, said that the Central Load Despatch( CLD) was supplying full load to both the power grid sub-stations at Golmuri and Gamharia.
