Jamshedpur: In a proactive move to address two pressing issues affecting the residents of Jamshedpur, Potka, and Dumaria blocks, Potka MLA Sanjib Sardar met East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal at his residential office on Sunday. The discussion centered on the ongoing drinking water crisis during the summer months and the pending compensation for land acquisition to the Raiyatdars. The Deputy Commissioner assured prompt action on both matters, demonstrating a serious commitment to resolving these issues.
The MLA highlighted the acute drinking water shortage experienced during the summer season in several panchayats, including West Kitadih, North Kitadih, East Kitadih, West Bagbeda, South Bagbeda, North-East Bagbeda, Central Bagbeda, East Bagbeda, Bagbeda Colony, South Karandih, North Karandih, North Ghaghidih, East Ghaghidih, West Ghaghidih, Central Ghaghidih, Pudihasa, Byangbil, and Keruwadungri in the Jamshedpur block.
To provide temporary relief, the MLA has arranged five water tankers from his MLA fund, but he emphasized that this is insufficient. At least ten more tankers are required to adequately meet the water needs of the affected areas. He requested the district administration to provide the additional tankers immediately.
Responding to this, Ananya Mittal assured that the administration would arrange additional water tankers without delay. He also emphasized that regular water supply would be ensured in all the impacted panchayats, providing much-needed relief to the residents.
Another significant issue discussed during the meeting was the non-payment of compensation to Raiyatdars for land acquired by the Road Construction Department in Potka and Dumaria blocks for several road construction projects. Despite the completion of 80-90% of the road construction work, the compensation amount has not been disbursed, leading to growing resentment among the landowners.
Sardar informed the Deputy Commissioner that the Circle Officer of Potka had verified the land and sent the report to the District Land Acquisition Officer, but the compensation payment is still pending. The delay has caused discontent among the Raiyatdars, who are eagerly waiting for the compensation they are entitled to.
In response, the Deputy Commissioner immediately instructed the Land Acquisition Officer to take swift action and initiate the compensation process without further delay, bringing hope to the affected landowners.
Speaking on the issues, Sardar stated, “I am committed to resolving the public’s problems at every level. We have discussed the water crisis and the compensation issue in detail, and the Deputy Commissioner has assured quick action. I will continuously monitor the situation until the problems are completely resolved.”
