Jadugora: Potka MLA Menka Sardar conducted on-the-spot inspection of various development schemes of the state government in her constituency here on Wednesday.
During inspection, the legislator received complaints from several local residents against the contractor of a guard wall construction project between Hensalbill and Pichhli.
The villagers alleged that the contractor was pressing women workers into service at night for construction of the guard wall. At this, the MLA expressed her anger and gave a dressing-down to the junior engineer of the project present at the site.
The legislator also expressed dissatisfaction over the quality of work in the guard wall construction. She directed the contractor to construct the guard wall by conforming to quality construction standards. She also objected to the employment of women from West Bengal at the said construction site.
The MLA said the total cost of the project is Rs 87 lakh. She directed the contractor to install a project information board at the site.
