Ranchi: The State Congress has not yet come out from the drubbing in recently held assembly election.
A large section of party functionaries are reported to be unhappy over continued war of words among senior party leaders in the State. Peeved over current state of affairs within the party a section of Congress leaders are said to be weighing out options in other parties including the JMM.
It may be mentioned here that the State Congress has convened its executive committee meeting on January 20. This past week the Congress high command had issued directives to its State unit to end the ongoing tug-of-war between senior leaders and strengthen party organization in Jharkhand.
But it seems the crisis is still not over. The sections of party leaders are unhappy over what they said a handful of senior party functionaries are causing damage to the party.
Only five or six leaders are stealing the limelight while the grassroots and committed party workers are being ignored by higher echelon of the party, they said.
Sources said that a meeting was held at the residence of a senior Congress leader on Makar Sankranti wherein other party leaders converged. They have discussed lack of unity among senior leaders and have expressed dissatisfaction over the fact.
Sources further added a few leaders have already made up their mind to join JMM. Reportedly those former leaders
of Congress who had already switched over to JMM are acting as a bridge.
The disgruntled Congress leaders have stated in the meeting that if the current situation does not improve they might switch over to JMM.
It may be mentioned here that a good number of Congress leaders had opposed the stand to snap ties with JMM ahead of assembly election.
But a handful of influential leaders of party decided to fight the election on its own which later proved to be a disaster for the party.
Sections of party leaders are also unhappy over the fact that those who had caused damage to the party were awarded with important positions in the party No serious discussion was held post-poll on poor show of Congress in the assembly election, they lamented.
There is possibility that the issue might come up for discussion in the next executive committee meeting.
