Jamshedpur: Navyug Dal, the youth wing of Gayatri Pariwar, Tatanagar, carried out a cleanliness drive near Shiv temple at Makhdumpur, Parsudih, on Sunday as part of the ongoing Cleanliness Week being observed all over the country from 20th September by Akhil Vishwa Gayatri Pariwar, Shantikunj, Haridwar.
Hundreds of outfit members also cleaned the pond near the temple. They started the cleanliness work around 9 am and continued for several hours.
Local residents took pledge not to pollute the pond and clean it every month. They said they will no longer throw garbage in the pond or allow anyone to do the same.
The chief managing trustee of Gayatri Pariwar, Tatanagar, K Prabhakar Rao, along with others, participated in plantation around the pond.
Saplings were planted around the pond in order to save the environment from pollution. The pond was also renamed as Shri Ram Sarovar.
Among those present on the occasion included Yoganand Mishra, Umesh Pathak, Munna Pandey, Satyavan Tiwary and Arbind Ojha.
