Mail News Service

Jamshedpur, Jan 30: In a significant political move, Aftab Siddiqui, a senior Congress leader from Jamshedpur, has switched sides and joined the Janata Dal (United), or JDU, following the recent assembly elections. Aftab, who was close to former Congress minister Bana Gupta, made the announcement during a meeting with JDU state president Nirmal Singh. Siddiqui, who had been accused of supporting Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Rai while still a member of Congress, expressed his reasons for the change. “While I received much love from Congress, after the elections, there were serious allegations about my connections with Saryu Rai. I have personal ties with him, and now, for the sake of serving the people, I’ve decided to join his party, JDU,” he said. Aftab emphasized that he hoped to contribute to the development of the region and praised Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s development efforts, which, he said, are renowned worldwide.
