Jamshedpur : After executing a `kurki-jabti’ warrant by attaching movable properties of gangster Akhilesh Singh at his father’s residence in Sidhgora, the district police have sent two separate teams to Noida and another unknown location to hunt Akhilesh Singh.
Police was prompted to take the step against Akhilesh after his name figured in an FIR in connection with the Upendra Singh murder case registered with the Sitaramdera police station on Thursday. In the FIR lodged by Kundan Kumar Singh, the gangster Akhilesh was the conspirator of the murder and three others, namely Harish Singh, Binod Singh and Sonu Singh had executed the murder plan.
Sources said that Akhilesh Singh, who is out on bail, is said to be in Noida. The district police have sent two teams one at Noida and another to undisclosed location. The police are hopeful that once nabbed the gangster will take them to a lead to crack the murder mystery. The local administration has imposed a “district out order” against him since November 22.
The police are interrogating some persons for finding out the whereabouts of Akhilesh Singh who is married, having his wife away at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.
The attachment was carried out on the basis of a `kurki’ warrant against Akhilesh Singh in connection with a case under Sections extortion and arms act with the Golmuri police station on August 28 this year.
Son of Chandragupt Singh, former general secretary of Jharkhand Police Association, Akhilesh set up a network extortionists and shooters, which was spread well across Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.
Sources in the underworld revealed that the fugitive has amassed crores or rupees by perpetuating the criminal activities, which was focused on the `extortion’ from the businessmen and traders, and even the corporate houses.
He used to run his `business’ through a syndicate of criminals which has an effective strength of over 100 members. He has even invested the money earned from the extortions in real estate business in Jamshedpur and several other cities in Jharkhand and Bihar.
Akhilesh is accused in more than two dozen cases of grievous crime. The prominent cases in which he was wanted, include murder of shoe baron Ashish Dey, murder of Tata Steel security inspector Jairam Singh, murder of gangster Paramjeet Singh inside Ghaghidih Central Jail, the jailer Uma Shanker Pandey murder case in which he has already been sentenced to life imprisonment and kidnapping and murder of mobile merchant Om Prakash Kabra.
The 34-year-old don stepped into the crime world by abducting the merchant Om Prakash Kabra on July 21, 2001. After his name figured in the Kabra abduction case, he had surrendered in the court on August 6, 2001.
He fled the judicial custody on February 18, 2002. He was arrested from Varanasi on October 7, 2004.
