Police solve Rs 14 lakh Baradwari burglary case

Jamshedpur: The Sitaramdera police have solved the major Baradwari burglary case. The police have arrested four individuals and recovered the entire cache of stolen valuables worth nearly Rs 14 lakh.

During the investigation, the police identified 20-year-old Alok Mukhi alias Sawan Mukhi of Bhalubasa as the mastermind. On December 7, around 3 pm, Alok allegedly broke into the locked residence of Amit Solanki and escaped with gold and silver ornaments valued at over Rs 10 lakh.

Police found that Alok’s brother-in-law, Dheeraj Kumar Tanti (25), and his sister, Jyoti Mukhi (25), were instrumental in selling the stolen jewellery. Both were arrested in Adityapur. During questioning, Dheeraj revealed that he had sold a gold necklace at Ananya Jewellers in Gamharia for Rs 70,000 in cash.

Acting on the lead, the police dramatically raided Ananya Jewellers, posing as customers. They recovered the stolen necklace and arrested shop owner Sunil Kumar Prasad for purchasing it without a bill or verification. The operation was executed under the supervision of City SP Kumar Shivashish.

In the operation, the police recovered a gold necklace, bangles, kadas, two maang-tikas, nose pins, tops, a silver ring, a silver coin, a scooter, a mobile phone, and Rs 70,000 in cash. The total value of recovered jewellery has been assessed at around Rs 14 lakh.

City SP Kumar Shivashish said that both Alok and Dheeraj have prior criminal records and had previously served a jail term. All four accused have been remanded to judicial custody.
