Burdwan: In a proactive move, the police at Bhatar police station in East Burdwan district, West Bengal, intercepted two trucks on Friday, uncovering a clandestine operation involving the smuggling of banned cough syrup under the guise of paddy transport. The police were astonished by the ingenuity of the smuggling method, seizing cough syrup worth lakhs of rupees.
The authorities are treating this operation as a significant success in their ongoing efforts against drug-related activities in East Burdwan district. The incident highlights the challenges faced by law enforcement in identifying and intercepting covert methods employed by smugglers.
Approximately 470 boxes of banned cough syrup were discovered during the seizure, raising concerns about the extent of such illicit activities. The police are conducting further investigations to trace the origin and destination of the smuggled cough syrup, aiming to dismantle any larger network involved in such illegal operations.
