Jamshedpur: Olidih police here registered a case against several unidentified persons in connection with the incident of violence at Dimna Road yesterday evening.
They also detained several persons for interrogation.
Police sources said a search was on for the culprits involved in vandalism at a medical shop situated on the main road.
The culprits vandalized the shop and assaulted several local residents when asked to quit smoking ganja in a lane. They created ruckus all along the road and assaulted local residents with lathis, fists, stones and other weapons, sources said.
Police was deployed at the troubled spot after the traffic on the main road came to a standstill following the ruckus. Local residents said they had only tried to oppose ganja smoking by a large group comprising 70-80 youths who were returning after immersion of Goddess Kali�s idol at Dimna Lake.
Later, local residents caught hold of several youths and beat them up before handing them over to police.
