Police probe into bank accounts of terrorists

Ranchi: Intelligence agencies and police have started focusing on the financial resources of the terrorists who planned and implemented the Patna serial blasts. Sources said the investigators have found the links of terrorists with Dhanbad.

Lakhisarai police of Bihar conducted a detailed probe in this connection by visited over a dozen banks in Dhanabd on Thursday. Around 50 bank accounts of various suspects reported to have funded Indian Mujahideen terrorists were searched by the police. In this connection, Lakhisarai and Munger police had arrested one Gopal Goyal.

Sources said it was Goyal who used to arrange for funds for the terrorists. Based on his interrogation, police arrested a youth from Jharia and searched for information related to the bank account of Goyal in the various banks of Dhanbad.

Sources said Goyal lived in Vikas Nagar of Matkuria in Bank More police station area of Dhanbad for years in a rented accommodation and prepared the network for Indian Mujahideen. He started bringing unemployed youths into the organization�s fold and included Jitendra, Pappu, Bittu and Raju Sao in the racket. Many bank accounts were opened in the names of such unemployed youths by Goyal and his men in Dhanbad.

Bihar police arrested Raju Sao from Jharia on 10th November last. The police sources said the terrorists were getting funds through Havala. Bihar police reached Dhanbad today with Goyal and sealed the room where he stayed in Dhanbad. Police visited different banks and conducted a probe into the terrorist links of Goyal and his men.
