Jamshedpur police preparing dossiers on illegal arms runners, holders

Jamshedpur, Dec 6: The Jamshedpur police have pulled up their socks and launched a full scale drive to nab gun toting criminals and illegal arms runners who have been creating mayhem in the East Singhbhum district. Kolhan DIG Rajiv Ranjan Singh has instructed all OCs of Jamshedpur police stations to keep a hawk eye on criminals on the run or those who have been released on bail in cases related to murder and other offences related to illegal arms. The operations have a time span of 15 days. The Kadma police have hauled in Ganesh Pradhan alias Doda wanted in an Arms Act related case. Doda is reportedly a henchman of jailed criminal Bhanu Majhi.

The police have intensified raiding operations for netting in criminals accused in Arms Act cases but are absconding. The success rate does not elate the sense of security in citizens as there are still 22 accused in city incidents playing the cat and mouse game with the police.

Kolhan DIG Rajiv Ranjan Singh has directed Jamshedpur police to prepare dossiers on criminals who were arrested under various Arms Act cases in the last five years in their respective command areas. They have been asked to tick out detailed information regarding the accused out on bail that includes the accuseds’ current activities, their residence and their sources of income. In addition, all police stations have received the DIG’s instruction to dig up the history of criminals who have been jailed in more than one cases of possession of illegal weapons or other criminal acts. The men in khaki are carrying out intensive searches for suspects of illegal gun running and possession. If and when such alleged criminals are apprehended by the police suitable action under Crime Control Act (CCA) has been contemplated against them.
