Seraikela: Seraikela-Kharsawan police carried out a surprise vehicle checking drive in front of the sub divisional office in Seraikela here on Friday.
The drive was run following the instructions of the superintendent of police (SP) Rakesh Bansal. During the drive, the motorists were advised to wear their helmets and use seat belts while driving four-wheelers by the traffic police officials.
They were also asked to shun talking on phone while driving and driving under the influence of alcohol. Driving licence and other mandatory documents were checked during the drive.
Many drivers were caught by police and fined for not wearing helmets. Reckless drivers were warned against flouting speed norms.
